12 Design Tricks To Make a Small Room Feel More Spacious

☝1. Find the Right Scale

Proper scale is key in a small space, says Kathy Kuo, founder and CEO of Kathy Kuo Home. Consider a loveseat instead of a full-sized sofa, or a set of ottomans instead of a bulky coffee table. “Working with slightly smaller pieces will help make the room feel more balanced,” Kuo says. “You’ll have more breathing room, and the space will feel very intentional.”

Being Black in the Art Community.

I accidentally found this video but a little behind the scene background first. I came across some great art and eventually found the artist on youtube. I guess I was surprised to see that he was indeed black. Guess that should not have shocked me but it did. Very insightful video about an experience that I shared growing up in a very small southern town always aware that I was different or out of place or creatively alone most times. That's not a complaint; its an observation and acceptance of my experience. I AM NOT A HATEMONGER nor do I support rude inconsiderate commentors; remember that if you commment. This is merely a dialogue outloud not about an incident but ANOTHER moment ....

Who Doesn't Love the Moon?

Does The Moon Change Your Mood?

Always surrounded by an aura of mystery, the moon and its possible influence over human behavior has been object of ancestral fascination and mythical speculation for centuries. While the full moon cannot turn people into werewolves, some people do accuse it of causing a bad night's sleep or creating physical and mental alterations. But is there any science behind these myths?

"Our study provides compelling evidence that the moon does not seem to influence people's behavior. The only significant finding was the 1% sleep alteration in full moon, and this is largely explained by our large sample size that maximizes statistical power," said Chaput. The clinical implication of sleeping 5 minutes less during full moon does not represent a considerable threat to health. "Overall, I think we should not be worried about the full moon. Our behaviors are largely influenced by many other factors like genes, education, income and psychosocial aspects rather than by gravitational forces," he added. full article

Facts About The Moon

#moonchild #ownthenight #lunarchild

#welovethemoon

The dark side of the moon is a myth.

In reality both sides of the Moon see the same amount of sunlight however only one face of the Moon is ever seen from Earth. This is because the Moon rotates around on its own axis in exactly the same time it takes to orbit the Earth, meaning the same side is always facing the Earth. The side facing away from Earth has only been seen by the human eye from spacecraft.

The rise and fall of the tides on Earth is caused by the Moon.

There are two bulges in the Earth due to the gravitational pull that the Moon exerts; one on the side facing the Moon, and the other on the opposite side that faces away from the Moon, The bulges move around the oceans as the Earth rotates, causing high and low tides around the globe.

The Moon is drifting away from the Earth.

The Moon is moving approximately 3.8 cm away from our planet every year. It is estimated that it will continue to do so for around 50 billion years. By the time that happens, the Moon will be taking around 47 days to orbit the Earth instead of the current 27.3 days.

A person would weigh much less on the Moon.
The Moon has much weaker gravity than Earth, due to its smaller mass, so you would weigh about one sixth (16.5%) of your weight on Earth. This is why the lunar astronauts could leap and bound so high in the air.

The Moon has only been walked on by 12 people; all American males.

The first man to set foot on the Moon in 1969 was Neil Armstrong on the Apollo 11 mission, while the last man to walk on the Moon in 1972 was Gene Cernan on the Apollo 17 mission. Since then the Moon has only be visited by unmanned vehicles.

The Moon has no atmosphere.
This means that the surface of the Moon is unprotected from cosmic rays, meteorites and solar winds, and has huge temperature variations. The lack of atmosphere means no sound can be heard on the Moon, and the sky always appears black.

The Moon has quakes.
These are caused by the gravitational pull of the Earth. Lunar astronauts used seismographs on their visits to the Moon, and found that small moonquakes occurred several kilometres beneath the surface, causing ruptures and cracks. Scientists think the Moon has a molten core, just like Earth.

The first spacecraft to reach the Moon was Luna 1 in 1959.

This was a Soviet craft, which was launched from the USSR. It passed within 5995 km of the surface of the Moon before going into orbit around the Sun.

The Moon is the fifth largest natural satellite in the Solar System.
At 3,475 km in diameter, the Moon is much smaller than the major moons of Jupiter and Saturn. Earth is about 80 times the volume than the Moon, but both are about the same age. A prevailing theory is that the Moon was once part of the Earth, and was formed from a chunk that broke away due to a huge object colliding with Earth when it was relatively young.

The Moon will be visited by man in the near future.
NASA plans to return astronauts to the moon to set up a permanent space station. Mankind may once again walk on the moon in 2019, if all goes according to plan.
During the 1950’s the USA considered detonating a nuclear bomb on the Moon.
The secret project was during the height cold war was known as “A Study of Lunar Research Flights” or “Project A119” and meant as a show of strength at a time they were lagging behind in the space race.

LEARNING MATTERS!

Don't be afraid of criticism or making mistakes. Learning happens through blood, sweat. and tears. Social media has taken over everything; so to ignore it would be futile. Obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinions but a grain of salt can go a long way. This episode is great in many ways; but the engagement is very entertaining between the participants.

The Best Discoveries Are Often Accidents

As a graphic artist, you can spend a great deal of time solitary or at least in a crowd with earbuds in to block out the rest of the world or control your stimuli. Hence, my ipod is my best friend. I go nowhere without it. Spending hours a day creating or doing layouts or editing images; there is a passive focus to guard your mind and remain creative. Other days, you just want to achieve an objective AND stay awake. So I listen to podcasts. They are great. This is my latest discovery. !!!! https://www.instagram.com/salihughesbeauty/ http://www.salihughesbeauty.com

Wednesday Morning Sipping: 100% Caffeinated

Sunrise Sip

Its an early Wednesday Morning. The sun is bright and the sky so blue you could see the tears of every country music song. The air has a chill of absence; yet the day is full of possiblility. I spent the morning reminding myself of more important things. Its easy to forget as we age that we are not locked into any one particular thing, event, career, life or otherwise. The universe is constantly moving around us not completely linear but circular; the past, the present and the future at our fingertips at any moment. Though we have invested time and memory into a route, we may choose a different direction at any time. That is one of those things time and age easily rob our matured conditioned minds.
