Today is the launch of Thursday Thinkings of whose goal I must reveal later. Meanwhile here in now sunny Nashville, it is a day not untypical of any other. It rained in the morning and is completely different by noon. You gotta love change, it never changes. Hopefully the same innocent wonder of childhood is always within us, wondering, exploring and creating dreams in the world around us. There are magic things about kinds that they always love: bubbles, balloons, magic, glow-in-the-dark and 3-D! I must be still a kid at heart too!
My nephew is in Disneyland and I am sure he is having a great time. I talked briefly with him by phone and he could hardly contain his excitement. I wonder how I would have felt at that age seeing a giant rat coming toward me; but times have changed since then. This weekend my dearest oldest friend Tiny turns the F' word, 40! We always knew this day would come. It seems funny how old people seem when your aren't their age. I dont suppose I would go back even if I could. Nonetheless birthdays are great! Its a cause for celebration and fun. I think it will be an excellent weekend for a great IMAX 3-D movie, "Journey to the Center of the Earth." Since we already went "Zorbing," and neither of us believe in unnecessary risk (wink), I suppose skydiving is out along with bungie jumping. So lets eat!
If it wasnt Thursday, would Friday still be the end of the week? I look forward to the return of the Pensive. My friend Bendy has given me a new nickname that I think I like, "MaxiFrog." Despite sounding like a new mini tampon or FBD (female battery device) [dont steal that, its mine. I meant the acronym] it has some real potiential for a nerd like me. Its a LAM night and that too is more that fun can describe. Hmmm...much rambling about little to be quantified; but you already knew that.
grand delight and emotional exhileration. While it may not have been good; the effects alone deserved a big screen viewing. I had my concerns after the Silver Surfer movie; so I went all the way — IMAX baby! ....so its big bang or big flop!
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer follows along with comic movies of equal or similar disdain including but not limited to "The Incredile Hulk, Daredevil, Electra, X-Men 3, Ghost Rider and I am sure others to follow. These represent 
from the Matrix for the Surfer voice, Terminator 2 silver man graphics and Pitch Black / War of the Worlds end-of-the-world effects, the movie hobbles along like a one wheel cart on a degraded cobblestone path with large potholes every mile. If I hadnt enjoyed the Rat movie and loved comics so much; I would have departed after the first appearance of the Surfer...but hope wouldnt let me leave. Like the Incredible Hulk movie or Godzilla; I kept thinking..."its gonna get better...I remember it that way..." Sometimes memories let you down and are better left with the cobwebs of perfection. While only supported by a cracked axle of reused special effects; my imagination limped to the end with barely the energy to jump the last mudhole. The Surfer by far was the best character; but that says very little at this point. Victor Von Doom, as I recall, always made great long speeches of his superiority and ultimate destiny to rule the world! Unfortunately, he only manages to rule his Nip with a slight Tuck. Alba is a lame Sue in as much as Reed was absent. Johnny and Ben tried...but the energy/connection was pretend at best. The best chemisty of the movie was between the Surfer and his board. It was a doomed sequel ....nuf said. P.S. Stan, there's a good reason you shouldn't have been on the guest list....
I had a fantastic weekend jam-packed with quality time, leisure time and just good times. I watched an interesting movie last night before surrendering to the enlightenment of sleep. The short and sweet of the tale: 
No, this would not probably be an Oscar-nominated movie; but it probably should be seen by anyone who wants to better themselves or remind themselves what's important in life. As usual, we tend to have to be humbled by something; some of us require more harshness than others. As usual, it takes an encounter of some kind with another living being to better see ourselves. As usual, through learning from our mistakes, we can transcend our original vision for our lives to something far more spectacular and wholesome. However; as usual, everyone can be forgiven; but that does not wipe away the consequences. This movie does a very effective but subtle communication of these life processes. I know, you already tuned me out when you realized it was a "kungfu" type movie. Hey, "there's a lot you can do, in KungFu!" Don't judge the message because of the messenger. It's a stunning sequence of action and emotional introspect. You will also catch a glimpse at how Time changes places, people, what they focus on and what some will do to ensure a place in the future.
