Home Gone Tomatoes!

I was just thinking...about; well....hmmm....how can I put it delicately.....being erased. All these things come in the early morning and sometimes I can get them out then; others, they linger until...

Coming from a small town, you typically can't wait to get out! Move away. The only (and I stress ONLY) reason you come back is to visit your parents and grandparents. But if you live long enuf; they won't. Live that is. When they're all gone; there IS no reason to return. Maybe its just me; but the place called "home" is no longer there. Home becomes redefined as where you are with who you are and what you've got. The equilibrium of time has shifted to more time spent "home" than where you grew up. Hence; home is only home for a bit; then its just a place your memories visit or not. When its all gone; you are left with what you have around you at the time and there you are — in your "own" home.

Imagine being in the hospital or nursing home awaiting your return home; only to discover that what you called home has been long since gone. Home is a special place; but it moves around. Memories tend to solidify its position beyond truth. Thats what we do — violently remember what we want regardless of how it was.

Hey, you got one in!
Homes have to be made, you can never find the one you used to know. It's not just you.

I visit "home" a lot in my mind. I make it back to Ozark 2-3 times a year. Not a lot has changed...except me.
