...the strongest of men are forged, not born. That requires a bath of heat, pressure and fire to remove everything but strength.
Today, I smile because of the strenght gleened from seeing, listening and helping others. If you have lived long, you know that disaster can strike without any warning. The end of the month can be the end of the day in a flash. Sure, "a stitch in time saves nine...," but we are not usually prepared for the completely unexpected. In fact most things that surround us are taken for granted. There is great strength discovered and formed in tough times. It is completely EASY to look down-trodden and overwhelmed in today's fast-paced stress gravy. And sure all the good pat on the backs and "positive sayings" are fine; but powerless in a time of need. It all sounds great but feels less...you know what I mean. Hebrews 1:1 It is impossible to please God without faith. I would be the first to be a skeptic; so put me on the front row for the raw experience so I can expeience it all first hand. Some words have power; others just irritate the air. All of His words have power. Are we willing to be child-like enough to tap in? Here are some powerful words from the book Romans. Trouble don't last always and everybody that craps on you isn't your enemy.
Romans 5
Peace and Joy
1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we[a]have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we[b] rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we[c] also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! 10 For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
We were born to take a little heat. It's ok, you will be stronger! Waiting and struggling unleashes something in us that we would just as soon not discover. It ignites an engine that conversates between the supernatural and the concrete. Let's face it; we don't even place a call when there's no emergency. Trouble gives us something to talk about.
