A Life's Pursuit: CANI or you?

CANI or you?

It's 2007 and that's great. That means it's a new year and a time for newness and an opportunity for refreshed hope. For me, and being resolution sensitive, it means taking up an alma mater that I can focus on all year long. I always want to be better! Whether its fitness, marriage, health, social communication, etc, I always want to be better. Being better at something means that you are striving for a higher level...looking beyond where you are.

While I believe in being where you are; I more importantly believe in NEVER limiting where you can go because of how you are currently living. We all have choices and sometimes they can get pretty tough. That's Ok; I can deal with the tought choices and their consequences. We can have anything in this life that we desire — just be careful what you wish for; you will probably get it. Improvement comes with a very high price. It means that some things are immediately off the shelf. It means some real discomfort at times. It means some self-examination and shining a light in some "sacred shadows" you may have protected for a very long time. All of that means a lot of different things to different people. But the bottom line and the highest cost of improvement is "change." You cannot get something different from doing the same proceedures. That's insanity.

Change takes us places we would never have gone on our own. Change makes us face monsters and even ourselves when we would otherwise prefer to drown in a sea of our norms. Change stands us naked before ourselves and cohorts to examine our scars, weaknesses and blimishes in a particularly unsweetened light. I am willing to pay that price. May I always be about change, always be about improvement and open to self-examination without fear of discovering the truth. Fire burns; but it also purifyies and refines. It is in the brilliance of the blaze that we can marvel at how well we are crafted. Leap into the fire of a new year; a new you!

My motto in 2007 is CANI which means: Constant And Never-ending Improvement. Take nothing for granted; for everything is granted to us for our own self actualization to benefit not just ourselves; but the world around us.
