A Life's Pursuit: The Cash of Time

The Cash of Time

I was listening to DJ Wikit, a CD I picked up at a show my son was doing lights at, and I heard a mix of Johnny Cash's "Walk the Line" with a hip-hop funk behind it.......hmmm.....now there's a market! I actually met the man in black once when I was a child in an airport for my first trip on a plane and my first trip to Washington, DC. It's funny, that's been some time ago; but I can still hear his voice. "Excuse me," his voice bellowed polietly, after I had bumped into him. Even worse, I had no idea who he was until I had gotten back to my group and they had asked what did he say. It would seem that great songs/songwriters have to do a bit of living to be good at giving...much like so many other things. Johnny never claimed to be a saint and his songs and life testify to that. Nonetheless, his music much like himself evolved over life and the picture at the end was far more complete than the beginning. Much like Solomon, he counted all the fame and riches as nothing. The real jewels of life were family, love and you can probably figure out the rest. Anyway, the song is killer! Here are the lyrics. For all those who found "who" they were looking for; this song makes it all make sense.

Walk The Line
I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you're mine, I walk the line

I find it very, very easy to be true
I find myself alone when each day is through
Yes, I'll admit that I'm a fool for you
Because you're mine, I walk the line

As sure as night is dark and day is light
I keep you on my mind both day and night
And happiness I've known proves that it's right
Because you're mine, I walk the line

You've got a way to keep me on your side
You give me cause for love that I can't hide
For you I know I'd even try to turn the tide
Because you're mine, I walk the line

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you're mine, I walk the line

That's all good. As your foot stops tapping and your memories begin to fade back into the day, smile. The Cash of Time is not translated into currency; but love and legacy of friendships and families.
